The Brethren Leadership Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) corporation non-profit that was formed to manage Camp Colorado, 238 N. Highway 67, Sedalia, Co.  80135 on behalf of a District Association (38 Churches) of Church of the Brethren Churches. Camp Colorado has operated as a Church Camp since 1951 at the property located in the Pike National Forest. An agreement exists that grants the new non-profit corporation the ability to operate all the aspects of the camp.

The primary purpose for the existence of the camp is for the Christian education of the children of our districts (38) Church of the Brethren churches.  Camps include Pre-Junior (completed 3-4th grade), Junior (completed 5-6 grades), Junior High (completed 7-8 grades), Senior High (completed 9-12 grades). Our campers come from 40 churches in a four state area - Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and New Mexico.

Camp Colorado is one of network of 32 church camps supporting the total ministry of the Church of the Brethren including Christian education, evangelism, peace education, and stewardship of all resources. Other denominations may rent the camp from time to time for their children’s Outdoor Christian education program. Adults attend the scheduled camps in a supervisory role as counselors, nurses, cooks and directors.

In addition at times we require adults to help construct or maintain the buildings at the camp. Camp Colorado differs from a for- profit camp because more much of the cost of providing and maintaining the camp is subsidized by the District Association of Churches, churches directly, as well as direct donations from church members. All positions, directors, counselors, nurses and other instructors (except for the Camp Manager) are volunteers and they only receive small reimbursement for mileage. But the main difference from a for profit camp is our camps emphasis in religious training and tuition scholarships from district churches.

Camp Colorado's camps all have a religious curriculum with classes and small groups both in the mornings and afternoons. The curriculum is provided by coalition of denominations including the Church of the Brethren, General Conference of Mennonite Churches, United Methodist Churches and several others. The camp provides both an indoor and outdoor chapel for daily worship. Daily activities also include an evening campfire with hymn singing and testimonials, hiking,  and an occasional trip to Denver to volunteer at a nonprofit agency. The highlight of each week is a worship service with a voluntary opportunity to participate in communion and a foot washing service.
